The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son and He will be called Immanuel, God with us.
The Christmas tree is decorated, the outside lights are twinkling brightly and there are logs in the fireplace – it’s Christmas.
I’ve spent time this afternoon tying chocolate snowmen and Santas onto the Christmas tree for my grandchildren to enjoy when they visit. I’ve booked my Tesco home delivery slot so that we’re well equipped with food and drink for the festivities. Later this week I’ll wrap gifts for my friends and family.
These activities are all part of my, and perhaps your, Christmas preparations, but I wonder what part Jesus plays in our Christmas celebrations?
The baby born to live on earth, to feel what we feel, to experience what we experience, to experience daily ups and downs, pain and pleasure – where does He fit in?
This Jesus is alive today and understands us completely, loves us unconditionally, reaches out to us constantly.
Don’t leave Him out of your Christmas this year – let Him be your Immanuel, ‘God with us’.
